Meteliai Regional Park
The protected landscape of the basins of the Great Lakes of Southern Lithuania with the lake waters as well as high hills and mounds of Žagariai village. The incredible panoramic views are revealed from the top of the Žagariai hills and the Prelomciškė mound. The region is rich in natural values. Here lives the extreemely rare and protected in Europe pond turtles (Emys orbicularis). Trakas forest is the only place in Lithuania where grows the Sessile Oak (Quercus petraea). The Great Lakes come to life during the autumn bird migrations.
Neris Regional Park
The unique landscape of a river valley which crosses the upland formed by the last glacier. The Neris River makes its largest loops here and is rich with exposures, conglomerates, stones, mounds, single-street villages and small churches. The largest in Lithuania oak forest in Dūkštos is of exclusive value. The park is abundant with the values of the live nature – Glis glis, Ciconia nigra, the rarest in Lithuania Neotinea ustulata, and the butterfly Maculinea alcon. The most important value of cultural heritage – the restored Karmazinai barrows. Still living the tradition of making Easter palms.
